In high performance automotive engineering, there is a recurring tragedy known as the Oversized Engine. You have likely seen it before. A builder drops a thousand horsepower twin turbo V8 into a factory standard frame without upgrading the suspension, the brakes, or the bushings. The car is terrifyingly fast until the first sharp turn. That is when the torque twists the frame, the tires lose contact with the pavement, and the whole machine begins to shake itself apart.
For the last few weeks, I have been navigating that exact scenario.
As an athlete and coach, my engine is currently primed. My central nervous system and muscular density are at an all time high. I am moving weight with ease. However, I noticed my chassis was beginning to redline. An AC joint flare up, a bit of knee swelling, and an ankle twinge were all signals that the frame was struggling to support the power of the engine.
My engine was capable of massive output, but my chassis was only rated for a fraction of that load. I had to make a strategic choice: Keep pushing until the frame snapped, or pull into the garage for a Chassis Alignment.
The Anatomy of the Bottleneck
We often mistake fitness for muscle alone. We track our bench press and our squat numbers, but we ignore the silent infrastructure that makes those lifts possible.
Your muscles have a massive blood supply. They heal fast, adapt quickly, and grow loud. Your tendons and ligaments are different. They are hypovascular, meaning they have minimal blood flow and heal at a fraction of the speed of muscle. When you use advanced performance protocols, your muscles often grow faster than your tendons can keep up. You end up with a high torque engine sitting on a brittle frame.
This is why I have transitioned into a Chassis Alignment phase.
The Protocol: Training Around the Flare
In the videos I am sharing this week, you will notice I am not chasing personal bests or testing the limits of my joints. I am re-aligning the machine. When your chassis is out of alignment, you do not stop driving. You change how you drive. For me, that meant three specific shifts:
1. Stability over Momentum Free weights are excellent for power, but they require massive amounts of stabilizer recruitment. If a joint is compromised, a dumbbell press becomes a liability. I shifted my sessions to fixed path machines like the Leg Press and the Pec Deck. This allows me to keep muscular tension high to feed the engine while removing the wobble that grinds down a joint.
2. Managing Hydrostatic Pressure On my leg days, I noticed a blockage in my right knee during leg curls. It was not muscle tightness. It was fluid. In a Chassis Alignment, we respect the fluid. Pushing through joint swelling is like trying to compress a hydraulic piston that is already full. I shortened my range of motion to stop just before the pressure wall.
3. Physician Guided Systemic Repair Realignment is not just about what you do in the gym. It is about what you do in the recovery lab. Under the guidance of my physician, I have integrated a regenerative medical protocol. This includes targeted peptide therapy, such as BPC 157 and TB 500. These compounds work systemically to encourage angiogenesis, which is the formation of new blood vessels, and collagen synthesis. We are effectively greasing the hinges of the chassis from the inside out to ensure the frame can eventually handle the engine's full power.
The Perrilloux Performance Philosophy: Asset Protection
The most dangerous word in the fitness industry is "Push." We are told to push through pain and push until we break. But elite performance is actually about Asset Protection. Your body is the only asset you truly own. If you treat it like a rental car, it will perform like one. If you treat it like a Formula 1 machine, you have to accept that the most hardcore thing you can do is pull into the pits for an alignment.
Watch the videos below to see exactly how I am navigating these movements. You will see controlled tempos and modified grips used to keep the engine humming while the chassis heals.
If you are feeling those twinges and your engine is outperforming your frame, it is time to stop pushing and start aligning.
Build the Engine. Protect the Chassis.
